I’ve been lucky to connect with some incredible critique partners and BETA readers through my career, but I remember the times I spent desperately hoping to find some decent feedback on my writing. I feel inspired to give something back to the community that has given so much to me.
I have been working full-time as a freelance editor for three years, I’ve worked freelance for Macmillan, and I was a YA Pitch Wars mentor for the class of ‘21. Recent clients have become NYT bestsellers, USA Today bestsellers, TikTok sensations, attained mentorships, signed with agents, and sold books (see my Testimonials page). I have a BA in English (and History) and years of experience writing and critiquing within the writing community before my work as an editor.
To submit your work please fill in the form below. I will then contact you to request a Word doc. and payment. Please do not pay me before I make this request. You will not jump ahead of other submissions by doing this. Please also note that I do not offer refunds, as this is a subjective business.
All submissions must be to industry standard (size 12 font, double spaced, one-inch margins).
All payments (excluding full edits - which are arranged via Paypal invoice) will be made through Ko-fi, and you can see my page here.
I’m offering different levels of service, and I break them down below.
*Second passes can be arranged for non-specified items after we have established communication.
*All rates are in US dollars. If you are paying via a different currency, conversions will be agreed accordingly.
If we have worked together before, then you can refer a friend to me and you BOTH receive a 10% discount. The referred friend gets the discount on that booking, and once that booking is complete, you can book any service you require with the same discount.
There is a Referral field in the contact form, where you can specify who recommended me to you while making your booking.
A common refrain from clients is how much they enjoy consultation calls, which have - until now - been booked after editorial work. I also know from my own experience that, sometimes, simply getting to talk things out can help untangle plot threads or inspire new ideas. When you also consider that a video call allows you to unpack feedback that you’re unsure of or simply need clarification on, you can quickly see the value of a face-to-face talk. So, I’m excited to introduce my Book Coaching service.
$40 - 1 hour video consultation which can be booked at short notice (if you want me to consider materials beforehand - looking over a query or a synopsis - the price jumps to $50).
$120 - The One Month Basic - weekly 1 hour video consultations for a month block. The basic version means that I will not consider materials or prepare feedback documentation (I will be willing to look at example materials during the allotted call time), but I will be able to offer advice and give suggestions on a range of topics (the plot of your novel, writing craft, the publishing industry etc.).
$200 - The One Month Standard - weekly 1 hour video consultations for a month block. The standard version means I will request materials from you before each session (a query, a synopsis, a first chapter) so that I can offer more specific and detailed feedback during our calls. At the end of the month, I will also create a feedback form that you can take forward with you.
Long Term Package - Once we have worked together, if you feel you would like to extend the coaching service beyond the one month block, this is something we can discuss.
*This service is currently in BETA, so the prices may rise. If you have any specific requests, please don’t hesitate to contact me. I’m always flexible.
$15 - Query Critique (one pass, $20 for two passes)
$20 - Synopsis Critique (one pass)
$35 - First Chapter Critique (one pass - 4000 word limit)
$20 - 30 minute video consultation ($30 for additional 30 minutes)
$50 - First Three Chapters Critique (one pass - 12000 word limit)
$70 - Full Submission Package (query - two passes - then synopsis and first three chapters - one pass)
My developmental package delivers annotations on your document as well as an in-depth feedback form. Edits will highlight specific areas of your writing where elements such as pacing, dialogue, voice and immersion can be improved. The feedback form will focus on broad essentials such as overarching plot, character arcs, and worldbuilding/setting.
$90 - First three chapters (one pass, 12000 word limit)
$10 - discounted 30 minute video consultation
$15 - discounted additional 30 minutes
This is only available after we have worked together on a developmental edit.
$3 per page - this is the standard rate regardless of how many pages you wish to send me. Some clients like to send the full manuscript at once, while others prefer to send smaller chunks. I’m flexible.
Timeline will be discussed prior to payment, and dependent on the number of pages.
Once I contact you to arrange payment (usually within 1-2 weeks), I’ll give you an estimated timeline. Generally, I look to return any submission below a full edit within three-five days of receipt (excluding weekends) of payment.
I will try to give notice if I’m ever backed up on submissions.
I want to cheerlead, but don’t expect it. If you can’t handle a hard critique, and receiving your chapters with red tracked all over them, then maybe my service isn’t for you. Of course, everything in this industry is subjective. I’m certainly not going to suggest that I’m always right, but I will always be honest.
Nope! My only request is that you don’t send me first drafts. Please make sure you’ve checked over your writing before you submit. If I find myself overwhelmed by mistakes and inconsistencies, it’ll be hard to focus on the important stuff.
Other than that, my writing focus is YA fantasy. I’m best equipped to feedback on this genre and age group. That being said, I’m happy to take a look at anything - be it MG, adult, romance, horror…
